Kept Families Housed

In 2023, Commissioner Fast got Judge McEntee on board, along with the sheriff's office and the county's housing services, to create a new award-winning mediation program.

Protected affordable housing: Facilitated the creation of a home repair program for low-income families, seniors, and veterans, helping residents stay safely in their homes.

Brought forth and led an award-winning eviction mediation program that has received national recognition and is now being adopted by counties across Kansas which is helping families remain housed while reducing court backlogs and public costs.

Expanded Access to Mental Health Care

Fulfilled my campaign commitment to address the growing mental health needs of youth in crisis by championing the establishment of a Youth Crisis Stabilization Center.

To date, more than 242 youth ages 10–17 have received care—providing timely support and reducing unnecessary emergency room visits and law enforcement involvement.

Organized the first Johnson County Water Summit, bringing together state and local officials and 100+ leaders to drive coordinated action on safeguarding critical water resources.

Successfully champion turning a hazardous Superfund site into a community asset by securing remediation and conservation of the site near164th and Mission, paving the way for a nature preserve and future public park.

“Commissioner Becky Fast said cleanup and development of the land has an importance beyond parks and trails.

The Blue River basin is one of the top priority waterways in the nation, adding 500,000 people are impacted by flooding on the river. Therefore, stormwater management and water quality should be a high priority, she said.”

Stood Up for Our Seniors

I worked to protect our seniors, especially those on a fixed income by investing in home care services and spearheading a new senior health counseling program.
